If you’ve never been to BUCHANAN'S NATIVE PLANTS: TEXAS NATIVE PLANTS … GO! It’s so cute located in the historic Houston Heights. They literally have everything. It isn't big and crazy but it’s such a cute little spot to visit and one of my new favorites to take photos at. And the best thing about Buchanan's is they have the best selections of hardy natives as well as perennials, herbs, vegetables, trees, shrubs & roses — all suited to the Houston climate.

When clients contact me to do a photoshoot, I am always proposing different types of locations within the greater Houston area. I provide a curated location list that includes parks but also places like this: Greenhouse options. This client fell in love with the idea of doing her family photoshoot inside the Greenhouse. So I love that this client was open to the idea of doing something different and unique.

When I shoot indoors I have to modify my posing style a little bit. When I do family sessions with young kids I often play active games in between posed shots to get kids moving and get real, genuine expressions! But indoors, at someone else’s business, I do my best to not be a distraction to other customers. I modified the photo games I play to be a little quieter, and a little calmer. Even though we couldn’t totally let loose and run and play, this session turned out super cute. Little guy. got to do a little greenhouse seeing and smelling, while Mom and Dad got their baby boy cuddle on!
