Newborn sessions are some of my favorite sessions to capture. They capture a very innocent moment in time when your little one is itty bitty. I love taking pictures of babies eye lashes, the moment mommy smells her little one, and the joy the family has among each other. My general theme is an all white timeless look. I might add a pop of color or head band here and there but overall my looks are clean and simple. In addition, I am not one to be super posy with baby, but rather let the baby dictate their moves. I like more organic, non-posy positions.
Victoria Lanza Photography offers two different types of newborn photography: studio or in home lifestyle session. Studio is a more formal style of newborn photography. These sessions take place within 14 days of life; whereas, my in home lifestyle session takes place within the first month of life. In home lifestyle sessions has risen in popularity over the years because it offers a more relax setting and does not have the time restraint like a studio newborn session. Parents who like to take portraits in the comfort of their homes favor in home lifestyle sessions.

I will guide you through every step, from the initial consultation to plan your ideal session through the final step of selecting your perfect print products. How to prepare, where to go, what to wear, what to do about your hair and makeup, how to pose - we have it all covered.
Planning your Session
The first step is creating your dream newborn session is to visit my Contact Page and send me an inquire about your session. Once you send me a quick message, we will set up a free phone consultation to discuss in detail about your photography session. During the consultation, we will go over what your overall vision is, what matters most to you and your family, and how I can help to accomplish those goals and make your dream into a reality.
Session
Studio or In-home newborn session typically takes about one to three hours. Studio sessions take place in the morning or early afternoon. This will ensure that the studio is filled with beautiful natural light, producing a soft glow for your portraits. I work with a various studio spaces in Houston, so depending on what you want I can offer you the best studio space.
During a studio session, I will focus on the first hour just baby.I will do organic style poses with the baby and focus on the little details like eyelashes, toes, and babies little fingers. After the first hour, I welcome siblings to the studio. I know little kids attention span is small so these typically take about 30 to 45 minutes. We take portraits of the family, just siblings, mom and baby, dad and baby, and anything else you would like.
If you are doing a lifestyle session, it will take place about one hour. Many families enjoy in home lifestyle sessions because it is more casual, only about an hour, and just about capturing the newest addition to your family. During the lifestyle session, I will take portraits in two rooms of your choice. Typically that is the nursery and living room. In the nursery, I will take portraits of little details that make the room magical and take individual photos of the baby. I will also include mom, dad, and pets during this time.
Viewing your online gallery and ordering
After your family session, please allow up to three weeks to deliver your gallery. Your online gallery will consist of all the best images from your session. You will have 30+ digital images within your gallery. Please visit my Package page to review all my packages. I also work with a beautiful professional photo lab that you can print your pictures and have them ship directly to your home. These prints are fine art quality. In addition to prints, I have high quality canvases, albums, and frames portraits that can all be done within your online gallery.
I was delighted to work with Victoria. She was so patient with my two very active boys age 4 and 9 months. She did a lifestyle shoot at our home and captured both their cuteness individually and their relationship with each other making it look so angelic which was exactly what I wanted! (It’s not always angelic haha) I would definitely work with her again!

How do I book?

When are newborn sessions held?
Newborn sessions are held between 5-12 days of life. Sessions take place Monday and Saturday at 10 a.m. Sessions last about two hours.
Can my spouse and children join me?
Absolutely. Just immediate family. If you want to bring your pet too, that's welcomed as well. Just let me know ahead of time.
Where are these sessions held?
These sessions are held in the studio either in The Heights or downtown Houston.
